How-To Make a Find

The Used Designer Website Bible

Long time no post- whoops! I’ve been working on launching the website for my ethically made fairly priced engagement ring line- Immer Jewelry.

I’ve had friends ask me what my go to websites are for used designer shopping which has spurred me to compile this list! I’ve not purchased from all of these sites but have included some of my best finds from those that I have shopped.

There are truly endless websites where you can buy used designer clothing, bags, shoes and acessories, but not all are created equally. Below is a list of ever growing preloved designer websites. Check out my guides on hunting on my two favorite used bag websites, Fashionphile & The Realreal, for an in depth guide on how to shop on those sites.

Fashionphile

$1200 Balenciaga city vibrato
My preloved Balenciaga City Vibrato from Fashionphile- $1,200 (full price $2.2k) & my Han leather jacket from Poshmark for $400 (full price $1.2k)

Good For: Finding that designer bag you always wanted.

Bad For: Shopping clothes since they don’t sell clothing!

Hunting Tip: While they rarely have promo codes, bags get discounted fairly regularly. Shop discounted bags for the best deals, and use layaway to trick yourself in to thinking you’re spending less than you are. Find out more about hunting on Fashionphile here.

My Best Find: A basically new Balenciaga City Vibrato (grained calfskin) that was only made during Balenciaga’s Holiday 2015 collection. I had been hunting for it for a long time. I paid around $1,200 and bought it the day it hit the site.

Fashionphile Outlet

Good For: Finding really good deals on used designer bags, shoes and accessories.

Bad For: Just like Fashionphile’s full site- clothes, but also bad when you want to see Fashionphile’s full inventory. You can get good deals on both Fashionphile and Fashionphile Outlet so you end up having to go to both sites which can be annoying.

Hunting Tip: They have AMAZING shoes!!!

The RealReal

Valentino Brown Santeria Embossed Boots
Valentino Brown Santeria Embossed Boots from The RealReal for $180…. Bought while they were still in stores retailing for over $2k.

Good For: Basically everything. This is the holy grail of used designer websites. They also have men’s, kid’s, furniture and art. Another bonus- they frequently have overstock items from stores that are new with tags. Finally, I love that you can check out with Affirm, which lets you pay over time and makes you feel like you arn’t actually spending $1K++ on a bag, even though you are.

Bad For: Returns. They charge for shipping and returns which can be very annoying. This site also is super high traffic so you need to act fast if you see something you love- bad for indecisive purchases.

Hunting Tip: Set up feeds on their app to track products you are hunting for. Find out more about hunting on The RealReal with my guide here.

My Best Find: Sometimes you hunt, and sometimes items simply come to you. Thats what happened with these killer Valentino Santerina Embossed Boots. They cam up in one of my product feeds on The Real Real’s app retailing for around $180. They were labeled as “Valentino Rockstud Boots”, but when I started Googling them to figure out what season they were from I realized they were STILL IN STORES retailing for OVER $2,000. Needless to say I snapped them up and love them.

The Luxury Closet

Good For: Deals for those who wait.

Bad For: Scoring a deal every time.

Hunting Tip: I like that you can see past prices of items that have sold. Because of this I know you can get good deals here, I just never have found something I wanted at an amazing price on The Luxury Closet, in fact many of their products are overpriced. They do also sell Men’s and Kid’s products.

Yoogis Closet

Good For: A large selection.

Bad For: Guaranteed authenticity – yes there have been known fakes sold here, but they are rare and few and far between and if you do buy a fake you will be refunded.

Hunting Tip: Meh I just don’t like this site. The photos are not great and it can be hard to navigate.

Vestiaire Collective

IRO Ashville Jacket for $200 from Vestiaire Collective. A.L.C dress from The RealReal for $50. Givenchy Pandora from eBay for $700
IRO Ashville Jacket for $200 from Vestiaire Collective (full price $1.2k). A.L.C dress from The RealReal for $50 (full price $495). Givenchy Pandora from eBay for $700 (full price $2k)

Good For: Deals on European clothing, shoes, acessories, and sometimes bags. This is a France based company and most people selling on Vestiaire Collective are from Europe meaning they sell at reduced standard European prices.

Bad For: Guaranteed authenticity. I would say this site has some of the lowest standards for guaranteeing authenticity. While they try to keep fakes off the site, they frequently do not succeed. That doesn’t mean everything is fake, you just need to be careful.

Hunting Tip: Use coupon codes and look for clothes! They have so many great clothes for sale at great prices.

My Best Find: My IRO Ashville Leather jacket for $245- it retails for over $1.2k in the US!

eBay

Used Givenchy Pandora from eBay- bought for $700 (full price $2k)
Used Givenchy Pandora from eBay- bought for $700

Good For: Finding really specific items or brands.

Bad For: Authenticity. This is the only site where if you buy a fake you are shit out of luck & will not be guaranteed a refund. Purchase with caution.

Hunting Tip: ALWAYS get a second opinion to see if a specific designer bag or shoe is authentic. Even some clothing can be knock offs. Having said that, eBay gives you the best chance at scoring unbelievable deals, and is always worth searching through. I love eBay for looking for designer jewelry as well- particularly Sydney Evan.

My Best Find: My used Givenchy Pandora in amazing condition for $700!

Poshmark

Good For: Reselling

Bad For: Buying – in general people try to sell their stuff for way more money than it is worth. You can find good deals, but most resellers here are quite greedy.

Hunting Tip: Always price check to make sure you are paying a fair price. You can haggle on this site, which can be interesting.

My Best Find: A gray/green IRO Han leather jacket for $400 (full price $1.2k), seen in the first two pictures. Pricier than the IRO Ashville I got from Vestiaire Collective, but it was in perfect condition.

Luxury Garage Sale

Good ForSuper random deals & actually some good clothes.

Bad For: Searching for specific items. Their search sucks, plain and simple. They don’t sort in stock items to the top of their search feed which leaves you scrolling through pages of “Sold” items to see items that are still in stock.

Hunting Tip: Even though their search is no fun you can find great deals. Sign up for their emails and they will notify you about curated sales.

My Best Find: a $350 Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 which I gave my sister for her 21st birthday!

Borrow Bag Steal

Good For: Surprising look sale section.

Bad For: Finding bags in perfect condition.

Hunting Tip: You can rent bags from this website, but I never have. What I do frequently visit is their sale collection. Sign up for emails because they have promo codes all the time- and one of the only sites you will find where promo codes work on chanel bags!

Tradesy

Good For: A really really really big selection. Other sellers like ReBag post their inventory on Tradsey.

Bad For: A easy to navigate site.

Hunting Tip: The selection is endless and ever growing. I recommend searching their site if you are looking for a specific item. Browsing can be a bit challenging.

Rebag

Good For: Looking at less stuff than Tradsey.

Bad For: Seeing stuff that is not on Tradsey.

Hunting Tip: Rebag posts all their stuff on Tradsey, but Tradsey also has additional product, so I am not really sure why anyone would ever shop on Rebag when you can shop on Tradsey.

Lollipuff

YSL Wallet on Chain in Fog from Lollipuff for $800
Saint Laurent Monogram Chain Walle in Fog from Lollipuff for $800 (full price $1.5k)

Good For: Random scores.

Bad For: Looking for a specific bag.

Hunting Tip: Lollipuff is kind of an odd website, it almost looks like a website that would sell knockoffs, but rest assured every single product on this site is real. It is hard to navigate but you can really find some amazing scores on bags, shoes, and certain clothes. It is very hit or miss, but well worth checking out.

My Best Find: A YSL Wallet on Chain for… $800. It was in perfect condition, and when I saw it I pulled from savings and bought it. Lollipuff has the item sellers ship so shipping took some time, but it arrived in perfect condition and is certainly one of my most favorite bags.

What Goes Around Comes Around

Good For: Rich People? They do have some very cool vintage concert tees but get ready to spend $300 or more…

Bad For: Getting a deal.

Hunting Tip: I would avoid What Goes Around Comes Around unless you really do not care about getting a deal. They are extremely over priced but also very well curated.

Others worth mentioning: 1st Dibs, LePrix, The Fifth Collection, Love That Bag,

…. And there is even more to come

Happy Hunting!
